5 Best Baby Camping Chairs and Boosters 2023

By Sakthi Persak | 21st June 2023

Since I became a parent last year, I am constantly on the hunt for new gear that could make camping with my toddler as easy as possible. Many new parents stop or pause camping when they have a child. And its for good reason. Taking care of a baby in the comfort of your own home in itself is a challenging task, why would someone complicate it further by taking the baby into the woods where you don’t have any of the comfort and convenience that you have at home. However, travelling outdoors and camping with your baby can be healthy and fun with the right planning and gear. When camping with your baby, it is so convenient to have a portable camping chair or booster where your child can be seated securely and be part of the adventure.

Here are my top 5 recommendations for a baby camping chair based on my recent purchases and feedback from my other camping parents:

1) Summer Infant Pop ‘n Sit SE High Chair Sweetlife Edition

Summer is a well-known kid brand owned by Kids2 company based in Atlanta. The brand is known for its quality products designed to solve problems faced by new parents. The Summer Pop ‘n Sit SE Highchair is perfect for outdoor dining at your campsite. Featuring an innovative pop and fold design that sets up in seconds, a compact fold, and included carry bag, the pop ‘n sit highchair is easy to bring with you on your camping adventures. The small footprint makes it easy to bring baby close to the adult table and clean-up is easy with the removable, machine-washable fabric and dishwasher safe tray. The included wet/dry bag is great for utensils, wipes, or even snacks

Price: CAD$89.99

What I love about it:

  • Fast and easy folding
  • Carry bag with shoulder strap
  • Stable wide legs
  • Quality brand
  • Machine washable fabric
  • Dishwasher safe tray

2) Baby Delight Go with Me Venture Chair with Canopy

Baby Delight is another well-known US brand that produces premium children’s products. Go with me Venture Chair is a premium product with a lot of bells and whistles. The product is priced a little bit on the expensive side but is well received by many parents for its versatility and long-term utility with various fittings and accessories. As baby grows the seat can unvelcro to reveal two leg holes perfect for letting baby stand with support. The chair can then be used through toddler and big-kid ages, either with or without the snack tray. The Sun Canopy can come in very handy for those day long beach outings protecting the baby from direct sunlight.

Price: CAD$170

What I love about it:

  • Versatile use
  • Premium quality
  • Ability for your kid to stand or sit
  • Canopy for sunny days
  • Carry bag with shoulder strap
  • Can be potentially used until your baby is 18 months old (or may be even upto 2 yrs of age)

What I don’t love about it:

  • Expensive
  • The fabric body may be light weight and more portable but it can be too saggy at times

3) Fisher Price Portable Baby & Toddler chair

If you are looking for a tested, tried and true choice, then Fisher Price is a great brand to go with. True to its reputation, this portable two in one baby & toddler chair by Fisher is a great choice to take with you in your camping trip. The shorter compact design makes it easy to portable while offering the comfort and familiarity that your child is used to at home. This is also my personal favorite because I love the quality and thoughtful design of this product. Built-For-Feeding features include a comfy seat with three height adjustments to custom fit any table, and front and rear seat straps to fit almost any chair.

4) Phil & Ted’s Lobster Chair

This multi-award winning & world’s fastest deploying highchair is probably the most portable choice among baby chairs suitable for camping. The Lobster conveniently clamps onto a wide variety of table sizes and it doesn’t take up any precious space at the campsite or at home. Don’t let the looks deceive you. 5) IKEA ANTILOP High Chair with Tray

Sometimes, we don’t need to think of specialized options for our needs. A simple solution might be right infront of our eyes already. One such option is the IKEA Antilop High Chair. It is a very popular product that you may already have at your home or might have seen in many of your friends place. It is a budget friendly and common sense product that does the job as required. It is also easily dismantle-able and relatively portable, making it a preference for many parents.

Price: CAD$29.99

What I love about it:

  • The price is unbeatable
  • Simple yet useful design
  • Lightweight and easy to clean
  • Quick and easy to dismantle and assemble

What I don’t love about it:

  • The round caps for the four legs are designed with hard and levelled floors in mind, and might be unstable in a campsite with uneven ground

Other Great Options

The Ciao portable camping high chair and the Snuggle Bugz 3-in-1 multi booster seat are great options too. Only thing to note is that with conventional fabric based camping chairs like Ciao, some kids might find the fluffy nature of the chair uncomfortable, especially if they are used to sitting in sturdy high chairs at home.
