Best campground by far
We have been coming to Killbear every summer for 26 years and love it! We have stayed in several other campgrounds, Beaver Dams and Lighthouse, but Kilcoursie is by far our favourite. I don’t think you can get a bad site, although we’ve been lucky enough to get sites on beach row several times. Every year we see deer in the park, usually on the road going out of Kilcoursie but also amongst the trees near the campsites. We have seen a mother deer nursing her baby fawn, which was amazing! We have even seen a few bears running through the sites but got out of the way quickly. My adult children always use their vacation days so they can come up and stay with us too, which is lovely. The beach in Kilcoursie is outstanding! You feel like you’re in Florida or somewhere tropical with all that golden sand. There are several stores on the main road coming in that rent canoes, kayaks and stand up paddle boards if you don’t have your own. Also handy if you run out of something or forgot something at home. Killbear is a beautiful park with several trails, beautiful beaches, “sunset rock” where the famous tree is and incredible views. It is well kept and supervised and a great park for families of all ages. I shall be returning to Kilcoursie for many more years!

My spouse and I camped at Kilcoursie in Killbear a few years ago. It was by far my favourite park! The site was large and private enough for our liking. Every evening deer would roam right behind our site. One evening day a moma had stashed her fawn at am empty site beside us and came back for it in the evening. It was awesome to see the fawn suckling and still learning to walk through the bush. Here's a screenshot of my spouse trying to get a selfie with a deer.
