Inspiring speakers, paddle sports, adventures in far-off lands, and gear, oh the gear. I adore the Outdoor Adventure Show. I can easily spend a whole day at the show taking in presentations, talking with exhibitors, and browsing the deals on canoes, camp stoves, or dry-suits.
But is it for me?
Outdoor adventure is for everyone! No matter what your interest, you will find someone at the show who is as enthused as you are about it. The energy in Hall 5 is infectious.
Calling all paddle sports enthusiasts.
The show has demos in the whitewater pool, presentations on the Adventures in Paddling stage, and exhibitors and vendors throughout Paddler’s Paradise to help you find your first kayak or learn how to paddle a canoe. Meet Nancy the paddling pup, The Passionate Paddler, or Justine Curgenven whose film about her 2,500 kilometre kayak around the Aleutian Islands is winning awards all over. However if you like your adventures a bit drier, catch a bird’s eye view of the show at the nearby Adventure Pavilion with a zip line or a climb up the rock wall.
Love far-flung places?
Check out the G Adventures Travel Theatre for speakers who will transport you all over the world in 30 minutes. Wander through the International Adventure Travel Zone, the Caribbean or U.S. Pavilions, to plan your next trip.
If you prefer your adventures closer to home,
Ontario is a grand place to explore. Visit the Ontario Pavilion to chat with show sponsor Ontario Tourism and say hello to Ontario’s unofficial mascot, Bear the golden retriever. Meet naturalists from Ontario Parks or talk with wilderness outfitters from Red Lake to the Ottawa Valley about your next epic backcountry travels. Listen to Dave and Deb from The Planet D as they share their northern Ontario adventures in the Ontario Outdoor Adventures Theatre or meet up with Kevin Callan – The Happy Camper himself – after his Killarney presentation geared for families who love canoe tripping.
For those who want to come to the show with little ones,
don’t miss the Junior Outdoor Adventures. Pick up an Official Passport at the Information Booth to participate in a show-wide scavenger hunt. Follow the bear prints on the show’s floor to collect stamps and meet some of the great folks at a variety of organizations involved in outdoors pursuits (no spoilers from this gal!).
There are spots to eat, sit, and catch your breath around the edges of the hall, so take your time and enjoy. For more information about the show and to buy tickets online (beat the line-up at the ticket booth!), go to http://outdooradventureshow.ca/toronto/. I will see you there!
