Located on the shores of Lake Huron, Inverhuron Provincial Park is one of Canada’s hidden beauties. Opened in 1956, it is situated beside the village of Inverhuron, near Tiverton, Ontario. The park features 351 campsites within three campgrounds.
With its sandy beaches, dunes, breathtaking sunsets, and wetlands, Inverhuron Provincial Park is an exceptional sight-seeing location. Its young hardwood forest fosters a diverse habitat with rare plants and many protected woodland animal species. Its three large campgrounds offer you plenty of space for camping, as well as enjoyable activities like canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.
The three campgrounds feature electrical hookups, large RV space, car camping, and are private spaces. Group campsites are situated steps from Lake Huron and can accommodate up to 35 persons per site. Comfort stations are located at all campgrounds.
Camping
There are 240 campsites available for reservation, some of which have electrical hookups for RVs. Other facilities include group camps, comfort station, boat launch, dog beach, playground, showers, garbage station, laundry facilities, parking lots.
Gunn Point Campground features 76 pet-friendly campsites that are available for both tents and RVs. Campsites in this campground contain electrical hookups for RVs. Campers can take use of amenities such as water taps, laundry facilities, vault toilets, garbage dumping station, and the parking lot. The campground also offers a glorious waterfront view for your sightseeing. Gunn Point Campground has 65 campsites available for reservation, with 11 available for first-come first-serve basis.
Holmes Bay Campground has 78 pet-friendly campsites available for both RV and tent camping. There are 66 campsites available for reservation, with 12 of them for first-come first-serve basis. Holmes Bay Campground includes similar amenities as Gunn Point, namely water taps, vault toilets, and laundry facilities.
Lime Kiln Campground contains 86 pet-friendly campsites for both RV and tent camps. Amenities included here are water taps, vault toilets, showers, and laundry facilities. 73 campsites are available for reservation, and 13 are first-come first-serve basis.
Fishing
The park is a great spot for watersport activities including paddle boarding, windsurfing, and waterskiing. The Saugeen River runs into Lake Huron and offers a wonderful canoe route and fishing location. The sandy beach runs 1 kilometre long. Its clear, shallow water makes it an ideal spot for swimming.
Inverhuron Park is a popular spot for fishing. You can check out Lake Trout for some excellent fishing opportunities. Some fish species you can find here are pickerel, bass, pike, salmon, perch, lake trout, brown trout, and rainbow trout.
The park is perfect for RV campers, providing a highly unforgettable experience. Activities like boating, canoeing, fishing, hiking, and cycling are enough to keep you preoccupied and allow you to take in all that the park has to offer.
Hiking
Campers can go hiking on the shared-use hiking trail. The trail leads you to the shores of Lake Huron, where you can hike along the beach, and appreciate the scenic waterfront view. The trail is great for walking, biking, and basking in the warm sun.
The park also offers great bird viewing opportunities during fall and spring. In pleasant weather, you can make use of the picnic shelters that are available, and enjoy a nice meal overlooking the views. Inverhuron Provincial Park also offers a Discovery Program for you to learn about the park’s history, nature, hiking trails, and animal species.
