Campground Overview

Backus, where history meets nature! Camp, fish, hike, swim, relax in the great outdoors – all just minutes north of the lakeside communities of Port Rowan and Long Point. The park offers 160 campsites spread over five campground areas, and a swimming pool. Campsites range from tenting sites to 98 sites with electrical service and two unique camping cabin. Step back in time and explore what life may have been lived in 19th century rural Ontario as you explore the Backhouse Historic Site, including the 1798 Backhouse, one of the few Norfolk County mills not destroyed in the War of 1812. The mill pond is stocked with rainbow trout and is a great spot to learn to fish. Backus Heritage Conservation Area is owned and operated by Long Point Region Conservation Authority.
