Hawk - Awenda
For whatever reason, we haven’t been back to Awenda for 15+ years and have been twice this year and it’s our new favourite campground. The sites we’ve had have been amazing - lots of space to spread out and two picnic tables to use. We love the beach area - 3rd in particular which is not unlike a Caribbean beach, minus the colour of the water. The facilities are clean and the less than two hour travel time from Toronto is great.

This is by far our new favourite provincial park. Upon arrival park staff were helpful and friendly in answering all of our questions. My fiancee and I enjoyed this quiet, serene campground nestled in the trees. We could hear the sounds of nature nearby, and enjoyed the leafy forests providing lots of shade for our campsite. Comfort stations were nearby which was a plus and also well maintained. We got out for a hike on the Robitaille trail and read up on some local history (about the Robitaille family and their farming efforts in the early 1900's). We had some extra time and made it to one of the sandy beaches as well. We would absolutely recommend this park to family & friends!

Spacious shaded campsites if that’s what you prefer
The campsites in Hawk offer shaded campsites with tall trees. These are especially good on hot summer days. The sites are spacious and there were comfort stations in walking distance. The comfort stations were well maintained as well. The beaches, trails and park office are a car drive away (not really walkable but that’s fine). The dog beach is relatively small.
