Meadowlands Campground, Charleston Lake

About the Campground

Meadowlands is one of the three campgrounds located at Charleston Lake provincial park. Unlike the Bayside and Shady Ridge, Meadowlands is located in a younger forest that allows some of the sites to be more open and exposed to sun. The campground has a mix of electrical and non-electrical sites

Quiet, futher from beach and noise
This is our favorite campground so far. Between the hiking, the canoeing, swimming and quiet sites, there's nothing we don't love. It is further from the beach but that's why it's much quieter. Wonderful place to camp, explore and relax.

Not my favourite
Last year due to the increased numbers of people camping (and not booking far enough in advanced) we ended up in Meadowlands. It isn’t my personal favourite part of the park. It’s the far side from the lake and a distance to all the hiking trails. It was quiet though and beyond the normal collection of raccoons we were able to see a deer going by. If you are in a pinch it will do. I was happy to not have to go to another park. That said, I made sure to book early this year and are closer to the water.

July camping
I have been going to Charleston Lake since I was a small child. This year I took my three small children for four nights. While I prefer Bayside or Shady ridge (closer proximity to beach), this one was ok. We loved the hike by the boat launch. I love this park and we always leave with amazing memories.

Quiet but some might find it to be in too much shade
Meadowlands is not located close to the lake. The campground is quiet compared to Bayside which has the day beach but Meadowlands can be too shady for some who prefer sun. The campground also has a creek running through it and a small marsh area, so bug season can bring some troubles
